Steve Huckvale Graduate School Scholarships


Each Graduate School Scholarships worth £ 5000 and will be paid in two installments of £ 2,500 each. Taught postgraduate scholarship is for one year only and can not be deferred for a year later. Steve Huckvale Scholarship can be held with other awards from the University of Bath (such as the University of Bath scholarship). This Graduate School Scholarships will be paid in two installments at the beginning of each semester (October and January) and the second payment will be subject to satisfactory academic performance. Candidates will receive priority cosideration if they also apply for a scholarship the University of Bath, which can cause further £ 3000 scholarship.

How do I apply?

Graduate School Scholarships First of all you need to have formally accepted an offer from us. The offer can be unconditional or conditional. Then, you need to complete the application form and send it to us before 30 June 2011.

How does the university choose the candidates?

Of course, all our Graduate School Scholarships holders are chosen for their academic excellence, and in this case, we will look at leadership potential as part of the selection criteria. We will use the information you provide in the separate scholarship application form to judge your application together with your original course application. Financial circumstances are not taken into account for these awards.

Do I need to have firmly accepted an offer from Bath in order to be considered for a scholarship?

Yes. Remember that you can formally accept any offer: conditional or unconditional.

What happens if I have a conditional offer?

If you have a conditional offer, then of course any scholarship offer will also be conditional until you have achieved the grades that you need for entry to Bath.

Can I have more than one scholarship?

If you already have a partial scholarship from another organisation, you can combine this scholarship with a Steve Huckvale scholarship.

What happens if my financial situation changes?

If your financial situation changes, then the University reserves the right to reconsider the award. For example: in the case that you were awarded a full fee scholarship from another organisation after you had been shortlisted for this scholarship.

When do I find out the results?

We will notify the successful candidates by 29 July 2011 at the latest.

Graduate School Scholarship for New Media Women Entrepreneurs


The Graduate School Scholarship International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) offers an opportunity for entrepreneurs, ahead of two women in the field of new media to a class to join Goldman Sachs 10,000 women in India. And 10,000 women, participants will receive a world-class training to help entrepreneurs to think big and grow their businesses. Deadline for applications is June 1, 2011.

The 10,000 Women application is open to women entrepreneurs with financial need who own businesses that use digital media in innovative ways to deliver news. Please see the application for more details about eligibility. Businesses must demonstrate growth potential and have accompanying business plans. Preference is given to women entrepreneurs that employ at least five people.

Why participating in a Europe and Liberty seminar?
The seminars Graduate School Scholarship offer interdisciplinary introduction to the tradition of classical liberal thought scholarship. Subjects covered include economics, history, moral and political philosophy, law, jurisprudence.
The main aim is to approach these fields from a liberal point of view. The seminars are a unique opportunity to boost your understanding of the classical liberal principles of individual rights, private property, and free markets and their applications to today’s issues.
Who are the Europe and Liberty seminars participants?
Hundreds of students have already been involved with the Institute’s programs. The Graduate School Scholarship participants are junior, senior, or graduate students and recent graduates but they are also young scholars or entrepreneurs. They usually describe it as a week which had a tremendous impact in their intellectual life and which has proved helpful for careers in academia, law, journalism, and other idea-oriented fields. It is also a great experience from a personal point of view, since for a week, students and faculty members, coming from everywhere in the world, get to live together, to speak and to debate. They get to learn from each other and are in contact with different cultures, education and ways of life.
What happens during a Europe and Liberty program?
A traditional Europe and Liberty seminar lasts 6 days from. The day is divided into 3 sessions of lecture, discussion groups and discussions with the speaker. Every session lasts 2 hours and is followed by a coffee break, lunch or dinner. The week is an intensive week of lectures and discussions. After each lecture the participants break into small groups to probe and debate ideas they have just heard. A highlight of the seminar are the evening discussion groups; guided by faculty members, participants continue their exploration of the day’s themes. During the week, participants will have to interact constantly with each other and with the faculty members who not only lecture but join the participants for meals and evening discussion groups and socializing.
How can you participate in a Europe and Liberty Seminar?
The Graduate School Scholarship Institute has to make a selection among the great number of application forms it receives every year. The deadline for application is May 10. The Europe and Liberty selection committee members then meet and choose the candidates from the applications received.
